Ok so that drop in temperature that we were told about really did happen didn’t it? Wowzers; it made me realise that it really is time to have a wardrobe sort out and put away some super summery things and dig out the knitwear again.
As much as I often/most of the time/relentlessly wear black, sometimes I do and can switch it up… to navy or grey, sometimes adding in a dash of white in shirt, blouse or t-shirt form. Woah.
And though I predominantly work from home, I tend to reserve slipping into a pair of joggers until the evening – it would be a slippery slope if I started the day in them. However, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to be comfy during the day; which is wear glorious knitwear can come in – either oversized to allow for layers underneath, or closer fitting that can be worn by itself or underneath other things…
I Love this jumper – it’s my favourite kind of dress up/dress down jumper; I’d add big earrings and smarter trousers for office days.
H&M Knitted Jumper £17.99
This dress would look fabulous with bare legs (brave in this weather) and ankle boots, knee or thigh high (low/flat heeled) boots, skinny jeans, cigarette pants or wide leg trousers – they would all work with this beauty.
Topshop Grey Marl Plaited Funnel Knitted Dress £29.99
M&S Pure Merino Wool roll neck jumper £35 a gorgeous shade of grey. Boom.
Interestingly in our high street stores there’s an increasing amount of choice of pure cashmere and higher priced items available now – including hoodies and joggers – all reaction to people perhaps wanting to buy better and buy less, and those who have, or are now working from home.
M&S Pure Cashmere Star Crew Neck Jumper £99
This would be a super useful addition… (this jumper is available in 13 different colours, and currently on promotion; the usual price is £24.90)
Uniqlo 100% Extra fine merino wool crew neck jumper £19.90
Supposing you wanted to add a little preppy smartness but didn’t want the bulk of a shirt or blouse underneath your jumper… how about adding just a collar? (Always makes me think of Flashdance I’m perhaps showing my age – that would be more of a saucy, not preppy look then…)
Blooming Lace Pointed Shirt Collar £7.36
An actual shirt. I love the deep charcoal shade of grey of this… I think a slimmer fitting trouser would work better with this oversized shirt to balance out proportions.
Zara Oversized shirt TRF £25.99
A knee length dress… layer a close fitting roll neck underneath when it gets super chilly and thick tights. Winner.
Uniqlo Crepe Bow Tie Half Sleeved Dress £39.90
These grey leggings are mighty fine, and cool update to black.
H&M Leggings with creases £17.99
Yes to these boots. On. Every. Single. Level.
Arket Mid-High Wide Shaft Boots £225
Boots too high? Lived in trainers now for however long? These grey trainers a great autumn/winter update to white.
Nike New Balance 373 Grey Trainers £65
During the lockdown/summer when it wasn’t warm and sunny I lived in sweatshirts. Love the high neck oversized-ness of this pale grey one.
Gap Oversized Turtleneck Sweatshirt £44.95 (remember with Gap, sign up for newsletters so you rarely have to pay full price for things…)
These dark grey marl joggers look good, Really good.
Hush Tora Supersoft Joggers £40
It wouldn’t be a timely blog post if I didn’t include the new accessory we all have with us these days. I’ve bought these – partly because some of the other face coverings I had did not go with my outfits; what can I say – I needed some grey, black and white options!?
These are unisex, they fit me fine, Mr E-E found them a bit too small for him; they also don’t have the internal wire (?) that means you can pinch them onto your nose – but they pretty much stay where they are on me, so it’s OK.)
Finally. I really like this, Worn like this or perhaps with a small collared shirt underneath? There’s a hint of Joan of Arc about it, but I think that’s OK.
Arket High Neck Merino bib £59
