I love the sun. The sun doesn’t really love me. Or maybe it loves me too much… I burn. I do Factor 50 and then some.
When I first used to go away on holiday to Greece with some girlfriends aged 17 or 18; my friends, who were sisters, and naturally darker skinned than me would toast, bake and slide into a glorious even colour. I would burn, go blotchy and prickle – but I would do my damnedest to stay outside in the full heat for as long as I possibly could with them.
I don’t think Factor 50 sun cream had even been invented then – let alone as much advise about the perils of staying out in the sun too long.
Team Evolve-Edit go away on holiday in just over two weeks – we are so ready. We’re heading back to the familiar where we know where everything is; we’re all exhausted and somewhere where we know has never appealed more. I will still endeavour to turn myself a shade to an off-white tan, it will be uneven, it will be blotchy (try as I might to not be) but I will be much safer and more careful than in my youth and cover up for sure during the main heat of the day.
These are, I think, some great shirt/blouse/shirt dress options for covering up, wafting about in, sizing up in, and just trying to keep cool in the heat of the day. Beach not necessarily required (but lovely if it is).
You know, regardless of the price I pay for a piece of clothing – I don’t want to ruin something with sun cream, because if I’ve bought it, I liked it – even if it was a fiver or whatever… I don’t/can’t do the buy something with the prime intention that it’s OK if it get’s ruined – it’s not OK! Waste/cost/ethical ideals etc I will do do my upmost to keep it stain-ish free (*adds Vanish to holiday must-take list*).
