Summer Trousers Evolve-Edit copy

Summer Trousers

Sometimes if I feel stuck for a subject to talk about here I dial it right back to remind myself why I started writing. I was inspired by other bloggers who made suggestions and showed me ideas and options of what I could wear and buy to make me feel good and perhaps solve a problem (in a very first world kind of way) about how to dress for something – be it work, a ‘do’ or just everyday.

Though I peddle options that are available to buy in store now, I’ve always wanted to hopefully remind you (& myself) what we may already have lurking in our wardrobes that with just combining things in a different way, or adding in a new element here and there, we can transform how we feel about what we’re wearing and give things a new lease of life. As much as I might like to shop until I drop – the reality is, I don’t, I can’t – but I can look and vicariously live through others that can.

Whilst I do have ‘summer things’ and ‘winter things’ which I put away/get out, much of what I wear I wear throughout the year – adding and taking away layers as needed; the foundations remain pretty constant. Every now and again and chasm opens up and suddenly I find a ‘need’ for something. Summer trousers.

I have 3-4 pairs of blue and black jeans I wear on rotation at the moment, a couple of pairs of lighter weight (black) trousers, some wide leg (black) trousers and six ahem, (black) jumpsuits… oh and some stripy navy & cream trousers bought last summer to get me out of a style rut. Tried on numerous times and nearly worn. But in truth have never left the building. Maybe they might soon?

We’ve talked before, about khaki trousers – I’ve not found any that were quite right, at the time when I was in the right frame of mind/I didn’t have some other pressing drain on my resources etc etc. As many stores are on sale now getting rid of the first lot of spring/summer goods, the New Arrivals section is well worth a look.

Starting in a bold and brave move here (for me at least though I keep thinking about them) WHITE summer trousers;
– Still neutral,
– not too loud,
– will go with anything.
– wear with flesh toned knickers.
– avoid small children and possibly public transport.

A slightly heavier weight fabric here, more fitted and high waisted. Still white though. Exciting. I love how this look is combined with a white blouse – the combination of textures is gorgeous… and black accessories. Tick.

Still pale – but with a slight stripe… I love these cropped trousers worn with the tan flats.

A longer and fuller trouser here and slightly darker stripe. Effortlessly cool. Interesting ankle detail too.

Sand. A coloured trouser I had possibly thought of being the domain of an older gentleman of a chino wearing persuasion – possibly with a navy blazer. I’m seeing sand in a different light. And mixed with a leopard accessory… hello.

Loving the shape and styling of these as well. Note the simpler perhaps more masculine trousers then paired with a prettier and feminine blouse. Gorgeous.

Perhaps the heat is getting to me… forgive me whilst I slip in these fella’s… PINK TROUSERS. I know. Beautiful though aren’t they – and how they’re styled with all black… reassuringly wearable.

Pale Blue. Chambray look. Perfect.

A slimmer fitting trouser style – worn with a pale denim jacket almost a double denim look – but without a hint of Shakey… love it.

Supposing the injection of (sort of) colour all proves a little too much; here are a couple of lovely black options – loose and swingy (technical term). First off these culottes with a drawstring waist – available in 4 colours, the fabric looks beautifully drapey and super easy to wear.

And finally, these look pretty dapper – more fitted at the waist, with a wide flat waistband and a great length – I can see these working well now and later in the year with slim fitting boots…
