Sunny times are on the way…

We’ve had hints of summer-ish type weather haven’t we? How marvellous. It does always throw me however. Every. Single. Year. Of what to wear when summer comes.

Team Evolve-Edit have just had a trip away camping with friends this half term. Much fun, much wine, much bbq-ing, not much sleep… and then once home. Much washing.

I’ve also just been in China for work. It was hot and humid (in a Monica from friends hair type way) where everything but everything just felt damp and clammy. Not great.

All of this outdoor or hot hot weather has made me realise that I’ve got to sort my summer clothes out sooner rather than later, and not just layer up or layer down my core wardrobe, as I do seemingly far too often, which can then induce grumbles of boredom.

As much as I’d like to be a dress person as they always look good on other people I just struggle. Doesn’t mean I won’t try.

So, in thinking what I’d like/need for this warmer weather, for not only working from home, actual going to the office-wear and, just, well ‘doing summer’ I need trousers other than jeans, and summery blouses/tops to perhaps lift what I already have…

First off; I need some new khaki trousers (I managed to get some bleach on my last go-to pair) I think that khaki are the perfect dress up-able and down-able kind trousers that work well with trainers or a jazzy shoe; similarly a blazer or denim jacket.

Zara have these belted trousers £12.99 (Zara’s Special Prices section is rather brilliant currently. I’d not looked for a while…)

Or these cropped trousers from Next, linen blend £24

Even for someone so committed to wearing black as I am, sometimes, something lighter and less heat absorbing is required.

I love this too. Told you Zara was on top form.

Or even this… love the boxy look of this and tortoiseshell buttons de jour.

As I’m mainly home-based these days, I’m all about the cross body bag which is ideal for the school run, errands etc.
This bag however… is a great size for all manner of things and would look fabulous with any of the above items/outfits; it has a zipped inner compartment for important essentials. It would also give a nod to sunnier times when wearing an all black situation. Job done.

H&M Paper Straw shopper £17.99

Here’s a dress. I think this is sooo lovely. When I was checking out the New-In section of M&S it caught my eye but I scrolled past… but then had to scroll back, twice.
I don’t know when I’d wear it (says the woman who says she doesn’t really do dresses); I have no forthcoming events (surely, something is planned…. scrabbling through the calendar… hummmm.)
And then if I were to order it… I’d try it on, swirl about and then wonder if it came in black and possibly in jumpsuit form? But it is still just so pretty and floaty I had to share. If you like it and want it, please get it and wear it for those of us who probably won’t.
M&S striped waisted maxi dress £49.50. Gorgeous.

Whilst the above dress is deliciously summery… this is more, in reality what I would reach for… love, love, love. Perfect with trainers or smarter shoe/slingback.

Finally, this outfit/look, the jacket in particular (I couldn’t locate the exact trews) I would very happily emulate… though I *probably* would wear a top underneath the jacket in all honesty if I was going to a meeting/in the office.
Effortlessly chic, but the patch pockets give it a slight casual edge.
