‘Tis the season, fast damn approaching, to be merry.
We must, we shall, we HAVE to be merry. It would also appear that we must be sequinned, jazzy, velvety, lacey, and but of course glamorous and feeling sensational… (not remotely exhausted, depleted and stretched to near breaking point and STRESSED OUT). But I digress.
Really, like, when and how did this Christmassy season happen, it was only the kids half term half an hour ago?
We are all no doubt getting plenty of emails filling our in boxes with Party Must Haves (and don’t even go there with #BlackFriday) but I can count on one hand, possibly just fingers how many do’s and parties I actually have where I’m going to need to dress dress-up. (This could ‘almost’ be a cause for a sad face emoji, but with work deadlines, ferrying around small people to events etc, right now, as I write, it’s sort of a relief.)
The beauty of wearing a predominately black wardrobe is frankly add on a jazzy earring, (fashion singular) and you’re good to go.
Unless… well, it doesn’t always work like that does it?
I do have a lot of things that could work well with the aforementioned jazzy earring and some heels for any such do’s… but it’s always worth seeing what could be out there. Strictly under the proviso that it/they can either be worn again post the silly season, or I know I’d be happy to dig it out again next winter/festive season; it which case it is investment dressing, and therefore #justified.
A jumper like could work hard I think – jeans for day time, or perhaps some wide leg trousers and flats/trainers. This would also be something I’d be happy to put away and bring out again next year.
M&S Sequin Round Neck £39.50
For smarter ‘do’ occasions, these tuxedo stripe wide trousers could be super useful, for now and year round. (Also great with box-fresh trainers.)
H&M Wide Leg trousers £24.99
The above trousers could be downplayed easily with this tee below – I love it; makes me smile.
H&M Jingle tee £8.99
H&M do have a brilliant edit this season.
This skirt is fabulous for now, and also all year round – I could see this being worn with plain tee & trainers in the spring.
H&M Skirt with applique £59.99
That said, this sweatshirt, shown here in navy, is also available in black, would look most marvellous with a ‘statement skirt’.
FWP by Rae, Sparkling Sweatshirt £39
Some dangly earrings could add more than a little something to an outfit…
& Other Stories Disc Hoop Hanging Earrings £23
Ramping up the glam – stunning blouse… smart trousers or jeans would work brilliantly. Gorgeous shade of gold – the simplicity of this blouse means it won’t date; a keeper for years.
& Other Stories Metallic Satin Blouse £69
An tuxedo jacket in ones arsenal can never be underestimated. Timeless, classic and so useful in it’s dress up/dress down qualities… I love the longer length of this too.
M&S Long line Tuxedo Jacket £79
This sequin cami would be a useful keeper too under the above tux – even with blue/indigo jeans for a more low-key do. The built up straps will also hide bra straps.
H&M Sequin Vest Top £17.99
All this black might mean some colour is needed. This ‘Swag Bag’ is one that could be used for multiple situations – make-up bag, toiletry bag… I think also evening bag. This bag by Scamp & Dude is made in collaboration with Ruby Hammer and help raises money for Cancer Research.
Scamp & Dude Swag bag with Purpose £28
You may know my love of a jumpsuit. This one has move-able parts to make it even more flexible. Love Love Love.
Oliver Bonas Star Jacquard Jumpsuit £85
Another one-stop piece, like the jumpsuit above, this dress will keep working for you once the hangovers are done… timeless and super flattering.
& Other Stories Jacquard Empire Midi Dress £69
Finally, this jumper is stunning, so gorgeous. And one that you will want to wear again and again, this Christmas and beyond.
Hush Aura Jumper £149
Now about those gold boots… that’s another blog post entirely.
So what do you have ready for party season and what do you *need?!?*
