Do you ever see someone on the tube or when you’re out and about and think… ‘I wanna be like you?’
I was out-out a couple of nights ago, and a lady of a certain age got in my tube carriage and just looked A-MAZING. She wearing all black; black suede heeled boots, black leather leggings, black blouse with grandad collar and a little black jacket of Oh my goshness. It was cropped, with black embroidered, tweed or wool perhaps but with tiny little black pom poms around the neck and hem… Yes, I was that side glancing stalker-esque type person.
She looked effortlessly chic… the jacket may have been out for the first time or something she’d had for years. That’s my kind of dressing. In my head. Yes, update pieces (as often as I can manage) but then other things you wear and wear, put away for some time/years, then get them out again and BOOM, whole new look. ‘What, this old thing?’
I need me some of that. Monsoon was one of the first places I thought of that does ‘little jackets’ and I mean that in the non-blazer sense of the word. I’d like something that I can dress jeans up with, or wear with a fashion singular chino, or smarter trouser come to think of it.
So what I found is… this lovely little puff sleeve jacket from Warehouse, £40, was £56
Tweed also from Zara who have a plethora of these little trophy jackets… £79.99. Great colours within this would be easy to match bottoms too…
Slightly longer length Zara again £89.99. I love this WHOLE outfit… the white boots too.
More embellishment, with this cropped velvet jacket at New Look at Asos, £39.99. Sheer lace top worn underneath, optional.
Staying with all over print, Monsoon, £34.50, was £69. This with indigo jeans and a white tee. Winner.
In cream from Anthropologie £78, this looks almost cardigan like. Super useful.
What pieces do you have that you bring out time and time again, year after a year?
