My dear friend Rob married Laura on Saturday; it was the most fabulous of wedding days. It was everything a wedding should be; full of smiles, love and joy. Rob looked dashing and Laura stunning beyond, in a dress of dreams. As I type they are flying across the Atlantic to the USA to begin married life; what an adventure.
To be gathered together with old and new friends, and friends family that you then realise you’ve known since, well, forever… with everyone in their finery was so very special. As a group of school friends we’re now flung fairly far and wide, but we manage to some how get together with surprising regularity… and somehow its usually Rob flying in from whatever location, sometimes exotic, other times, less so, that does so well at calling us all around – usually with some excel sheet to populate of who’s available and when…
So Stars and Stripes seemed a good place to start to honour the Newly Weds…
Stars and stripes as prints, are pretty much my default, but what’s new in how to wear them, now that the Beast from the East has moved on (hurrah!) and there’s most definitely been a glimmer of spring in the last couple of days.
Hush ‘C’est si Bon’ tee – £35 – stripes and a slogan. I’m in.
As a stripe/breton obsessive I’m also thinking stripes possibly in different colours could be a move on for me this spring. Crikey.
Easing in with a contrast cuff on this Zara sweater £12.99.
This softest yellow and white stripe boxy top is Me+Em £59, love the button detail on the shoulder.
Traditional but with a twist… Lobster love from Me+Em, £55
I love a shirt, and this Red & White striped shirt from H&M, £17.99 is a good start. Boyfriend jeans and red boots. Boom.
The above shirt is also styled with these navy striped cigarette pants, £17.99. I love this stripe combo together. I want to be brave enough to wear something like this; I know it’s not revolutionary… but.
Within my boot repertoire I realise I am lacking some grey ones, now this is an error, but I think the situation could be rectified with these grey Mint Velvet star ankle boots £149.
I’m fairly low maintenance (ha, she says!) with jewellery – I’m all for a very reasonably priced pick-me-up… these are gorgeous from Oliver Bonas £22.
Or these Star Cuff earrings from Mint Velvet £19.
It would be a struggle, but I’d give these a home too, John Lewis, £18.
Or in belt form, I’d give this Stud star belt from Topshop £24, a whirl.
Before getting too giddy about spring, when (multiple) layers are still needed, this is a fab option from M&S, £29.50
Staying with the pinky tone… gorgeous rainbow stripe tee from Hush, £39
And then back to Mint Velvet for this subtle stripe sweater £69. This is giving me a throw back to the 80’s an skirt and sweater set I had from Kays catalogue; I rocked that look. In my mind.
Heading back into more traditional territory; more black/navy & white based…
This linen Star cut out tee from Hush, £49, shouts summer let alone spring, layered up it would work very happily for now…
These trainers Hush again, in Night Sky, £155 would get a lot of wear from me… given half a chance.
These side stripe trousers are achingly gorgeous… LOVE the red/pink clash. Zara £29.99
The final piece de resistance is this bikini set… had I seen it previously, this almost, almost could have been a wedding gift. Though perhaps not… as pieces to make you smile… hell yes, Topshop, top £20, bottoms £14. Stars and Stripes for right now, done!
Ooh yaozers – you go girl!
