For years I ALWAYS wore underwired bra – and padded. There wasn’t really another option was there? Non wired bras were starter bras or for over shoulder boulder holders than grandma wore.
For many many seasons though, the mood has been shifting; and whilst the laws of physics do decree that over a certain cup size, a non wired bra is not going to offer as much support and some lift will be lost – its looking so much better out there for differing options for those blessed with boobage.
My day job means a certain amount of long haul travel – generally in economy alas. Those seats sure don’t offer that much wriggle room, so every option with regards to comfort has to be explored with every aspect of what is worn. A colleague and I have been after the perfect ‘flight bra’ – a supportive, comfortable, pretty bralette that we can happily travel in; there are some great options out there now.
Up first a personal favourite from M&S Louisa lace bralette £9.50
For this AW – its been oomphed switching to velvet cups… love. M&S £12.00
And oh hello… Oysho – aubergine velvet £19.99
Effortlessly pretty from Monki at Asos, £10
Or from Oysho – Flowers £18.99.
Another triangle bra for those who are smaller up front (Higher, more covering wings – at the underarm, would offer a bit more support for someone with a bigger bust as it moves things forward.) Lepel at Asos again, £20. I love this midnight blue shade.
With a flash of colour Diane Houston at John Lewis, £50
A padded bralette from Topshop, was £16.00, now £12 in this berry shade that I’m utterly obsessed with.
More wine you say? Oh go on. Calvin Klein £43
A long line lace triangle bra in this glorious red shade, & Other Stories £27
And from Beija London – For Keeps £50. Gorgeous styling, so refined.
Ramping up the sex appeal – but still non wired, is this stunning bralette from Mimi Holliday – £39 in the sale.
So now from & Other Stories – this flock effect bralette, £27.
And some sparkle lace from M&S again – they are winning at these bralettes… £14.00
…and see the back… its all in the detail.
Finally – this beauty from Oysho, £19.99
As a bralette convert I can’t recommend them enough – granted, not always to the most elegant to put on – no audience is required, but once on… perfect, comfort beyond.
